Master Bedroom Renovation

It’s time for me to get working on the renovation of the master bedroom. My biggest problem is that I’m a flutterer. I flutter here and there, knock out a wall in this room, paint the ceiling in that room, rip out carpet in another room. There is no method to my madness, instead of having a plan, I do whatever moves me at that particular time. Which ultimately means, nothing gets finished.

This renovation is going to be different. I am going to create a battle plan, and then I will break it down into steps and check those off, one by one.

The first thing I have to do is make a list of what needs to be done in that room. Starting from the prep work right through the new light. This will be the list of things that have to be done. I will also make a list of things I would like to do in there, but if the money runs out before I get to that list, it’s ok, the main things will be done.

I need to determine my budget. This will help when it comes time to pick things like flooring and light fixtures.

I don’t need a contractor although if you are doing a major renovation that would be high on your list. I’m basically doing a facelift with a little extra work.

Once I have my list and it’s broken into stages I will attack it piece by piece. The first thing I need to do is finish ripping out the closets in there. I started but they are still half standing so that will be the first thing on my list.

I’m a master list maker and by making a list and breaking each item down into smaller steps the renovation will become more manageable. Right now it’s pretty overwhelming to look in that room and see all that needs to be done. If I can focus on one thing at a time I will be able to make progress and not be so overwhelmed.

Next weekend I will start the closets. Then the sheetrock repair. Soon I will have a new room, just the way I want it.
