Mission Possible: I Love Junk Food

I do. I love potato chips and cookies and my hand seems to have a mind of its own whenever we are near cookies and junk food. My mind says no but my hand reaches into the cookie box and inserts the cookie in my mouth. I really can’t blame my mouth, teeth, tongue or digestive tracts. They are mere bystanders in the crime!

This weekend really was not my best weekend ever. In fact some of my lose clothes seem tight. I almost hated to post this because it’s so NOT inspirational. I had a horribly busy weekend in which I was responsible for giving two workshops on the joys of home schooling in New York State. That’s two hours of speaking. I like speaking, but there is prep work involved, and of course it makes me very busy. Not to mention gardening class. Soccer club starting soon. And laundry? Is there laundry that should be done? Or maybe we should just keep buying new clothes to avoid the issue all together. I’m sure I’m painting a picture for you here.

I’ve mentioned before that the two things that kill me in eating healthily are being busy and lack of sleep. Unfortunately, these are not problems I can solve. Becoming ‘unbusy’ is not the same as just not going to the grocery store while you’re hungry. So all this to say. . .I enjoyed my junk food this weekend very much.

I said I didn’t want to post this but then decided to. . .why? Because so many people diet and then ‘cheat’ and then abandon all manner of healthiness because they‘ve already messed up. This is exactly the kind of thinking that needs to be conquered!

I Didn’t Cheat

I didn’t cheat. I ate some cookies chips and drank way too much soda. But I didn’t cheat. I didn’t cheat because I didn’t have rules that I was following. Rather, I am following a healthier guideline of more movement and less food. Therefore, I didn’t ruin anything, there’s no wagon to jump back on. . .because I never jumped off. My overall goal is still to move more and eat less.

Let us throw off the shackles of perfectionism that bind us. It doesn’t have to be perfect to lead to weight loss. Simply doing better than we have been will spur us forward towards weight loss!
