Monday Layout Challenge: Use a Non-Scrapbook Related Item

I am completely aware that today is not Monday and it is Wednesday, but due to the fact that I just decided to start this in August, today is our first challenge. The next will be posted this upcoming Monday.

I have decided to post a challenge each Monday that you can do, or you can not do. My hopes are that I can get you scrapbooking more often. Or that if you are in a scrappers block rut, you will benefit from these challenges enabling you to try something new or different or outside your normal scrapbook realm.

If there is something you would like to see, or something that you need to work on, that I might be able to incorporate into a challenge, let me know. Most of the layouts that I show will be recent, with the exception of a few that I will pull out of older albums to photograph for the challenges.

So on to today’s challenge:

Your challenge for today is to find a non-scrapbook related item you can incorporate into your scrapbook layout. It can be anything you want. Go to the store and pick something, look around the house, even look at your children’s stuff. You never know where you will find something that can be used in your albums.

My layout for this challenge:

The item I used on my layout that was not scrapbooking related or intended for a scrapbook, is actually a gift bag. I cut the gift bag down to a 12×12 size and used it as the background paper. I chose photographs of my daughter on her 4th birthday, which was what the bag was from. The silver that mats the photographs is actually tin foil. I realize this is probably not the most acid-free page, however, I love how it turned out, and my daughter got to help make it. She thought the gift bag was a really cool addition.

So what did you decide to use?

I’d love to hear about it or you can add your layout to the gallery if you would like, and then let me know in the comments.
