Monday Photo Challenge – View From the Top

I am completely aware that today is not Monday and it is Saturday, but due to the fact that I just decided to start this idea in August and was going to post in on Wednesday but forgot, today is our first photo challenge. The next one will be this coming Monday.

I have decided to post a challenge each Monday that you can do, or you can not do. My hopes in the photo challenges are to get you thinking outside the box, and taking more pictures. I want to you to try out new angles, lighting techniques and more. I would love to be able to see your photographs, so please feel free to use the gallery.

If there is something you would like to see, or something that you are wanting to learn or see examples of, that I might be able to incorporate into a challenge, let me know. Most of the photographs that I show will be recent, with the exception of a few that I will pull out of my digital storage to illustrate certain points and give you a greater source of examples.

So on to today’s photo challenge:

Your Monday Photo Challenge is to try getting a city view from the top. See if you can get into a large hotel, office building or find the highest point in your city and aim towards your cityscape.

My photograph for this challenge:

St. Louis Cityscape Photograph

This photograph was taken from a different vantage point than my normal St. Louis pictures. Living in St. Louis, I can see the Arch from many angles, however this photograph was captured from the top of Cahokia Mounds in Illinois. In past trips, the city was so far away and there were so many clouds, it was impossible to get a clean shot. This particular day, as the sun was just beginning to set, I got the shot I wanted, and I got it from a place I had never been able to get it before. A different perspective – a view from the top (of Cahokia Mounds).

So what photograph did you take? Add your photograph to the gallery if you would like, and then let me know in the comments.
