More Affordable Pink Products

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (and my own mother’s battle with the evil disease) I am continuing to spotlight products whose profits will help educate women about early detection and treatment. In doing so I hope you will be inspired to assist those whom awareness of breast cancer is a 12-month-long commitment—–not just a few weeks during the fall.

There are dozens of companies offering pink products during the month of October, but truth be told, some of the items are rather expensive. The following products don’t require rearranging your household budget to afford.

Quilted Northern. For every proof-of-purchase collected from specially marked pink ribbon packages of Quilted Northern Ultra the company will donate 50 cents to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Fox Home Entertainment. From now through May 31, 2008, Fox Home Entertainment is helping fund breast cancer awareness programs by offering popular DVD titles in special pink ribbon packaging (sold in stores nationwide). The DVDs are price listed at $14.95 each. From that Fox Home Entertainment will donate 50 cents to Komen for the Cure with a guaranteed minimum donation of $250,000.

New Balance Athletic Shoes. The popular shoe company has teamed up with the Komen Race for the Cure since 1989. This year they are selling an entire line of footwear, sports wear and accessories that feature a pink ribbon, one of the symbols used for breast cancer awareness. The company says it will donate 15% of sales from the “Lace Up for the Cure Apparel & Footwear Collection” — with a guaranteed minimum donation of $500,000 up to a maximum of $1 million — to Komen for the Cure.

Koss Sportsbuds. The company is selling Pink Ribbon SportsClips and Earbuds through July 2008. Komen for the Cure will receive $2.50 from each pair sold with a guaranteed donation of $100,000.

GUESS. One of my favorite companies is offering a “G2G Sparkling Pink” Breast Cancer watch and donating 10% of all proceeds from the watch to Susan G. Komen for the Cure with a guaranteed donation of at least $25,000.
