More Decorating Ideas for Fourth of July

Hosting a celebration doesn’t have to wear you out. You can use simple techniques for adding a decorative and festive touch instead of spending hours decorating, so you’ll have more time to enjoy the party. Try these easy ideas, and then kick back and relax.

Use Food

Line white wicker baskets with blue towels and then fill the baskets with juicy red fruits and vegetables such as apples, cherries, strawberries, red bell peppers, or tomatoes.

Fill new clear glass votive holders with candies. Fill some with red, some with blue, etc.

Table Covers

Make a simple but festive tablecloth in just a few minutes. Purchase a pre-made red one and a white one and cut them lengthwise into equal size strips (use tablecloths instead of fabric so the edges will already be hemmed). Sew the strips together or attach them with seam tape to create red and white stripes like the flag. Top the table with pretty blue accessories and pick up some blue serving pieces or party-ware.

Another easy table cover idea is to start with a blue tablecloth and top it with white lace or mesh fabric so the color peeks through, and then use red accessories.

For a casual look to cover the picnic table, choose a white tablecloth and make a simple table runner by sewing red and blue bandanas end to end (or use fabric glue or iron-on seam tape instead of sewing).

Flowers

Pick up some fresh flowers in patriotic colors or cut some from your garden. Red and white flowers look festive in a blue vase. You can also remove the stems and float the flowers in a pretty bowl. Add a couple of candles near the flowers if desired.
