More Easy Costumes with Sweats

Sweat pants, sweatshirts, and hoodies just make costume making a breeze. Here are a few more cute costume ideas made from sweats.

Pumpkin Costume

If you can find orange sweat pants and an orange hoodie, perfect. Pull up the hood and tie it. Paint your face orange. Stuff the belly of your pants and hoodie for some roundness. Pin felt triangles to the front of the jacket to make a jack-o-lantern face. You can also just decorate an orange t-shirt of sweatshirt and forget the pants and paint. This works great for little ones. Just add an orange knit cap or bright orange bow for a little girl, and go.

Tomato or Apple Costume

Same as above only use red sweats. Then, make a “hat” from green felt that looks like a tomato stem. You can make a face on your belly if you like. This idea can easily be made into an apple too. Just change the look of the stem to look like one for an apple, sew a tube of stuffed fabric to make a worm, and pin on a piece of yellow fabric on one side, so it looks like someone took a bite.

Banana Costume

Go with yellow top to bottom (don’t stuff the belly). Pull up the hood and stuff the pointy part with fiberfill. Paint your face yellow if desired. This is cute for several small children to dress as a bunch of bananas.

Tree Costume

Brown sweats or brown pants and a long sleeved brown shirt will help you look like a tree trunk. Put on a green cap. Cut leaf shapes from green felt and attach them to the cap. Pin a few to the cuffs of your sleeves as well. On the other hand, you can simply purchase swags of artificial autumn colored leaves. Wrap strings of leaves around the top of your head and up and down your arms. Stand with your arms up in the air like tree branches so Mom or Dad can take a picture. Face paint is optional.
