More Quick, Easy Staging Tips

Following yesterday’s article, here are some more quick, easy home staging tips:

Freshen up the Bathroom

Bathrooms (and kitchens) sell homes. You’ll hear it again and again, because it’s true. So, it is imperative that bathrooms feel fresh and clean. Before an open house, you will obviously want to clean the bathroom thoroughly. Then, add a few simple touches to make it feel even fresher and cleaner. A nice air freshener with a subtle, clean scent is a good idea. Also, switch out things like soap, towels, and even toilet paper. Put a new roll of toilet paper in the dispenser. Put a new bar of soap in the soap dish. Pick up some new towels (even inexpensive ones are fine because they’re brand new). Finally, change the light bulb(s) to a brighter one during open house. A brighter space feels larger.

Make Your Small Bathroom Feel Larger

Time to Plant it

Even if you haven’t had much luck with houseplants, pick up a few before open house. There are varieties that are very easy to care (and actually hard to kill, which is my type of plant!). Adding greenery -preferably real and not artificial- makes a house feel homey. It adds life and color to a space and is a simple, affordable way to help make spaces feel more finished.

Five Houseplants That Are Hard To Kill

A Little Bit lived in

You want your home to be squeaky clean and neat, but it shouldn’t feel stark and sterile. By placing (staging) a few items to make spaces feel a little bit lived in, your home will feel more welcoming. If you generally toss your keys into a bowl on the console table, go ahead and do so. Your home should not look too perfect or it will put people off. There is a balance and small touches like these can help make your home feel more like real people live there instead of feeling like a page from a magazine. You want people to feel comfortable, not afraid to touch things or sit down.
