You know you are a diehard scrapper when you actually look forward to the end of your spring break getaway, so you can go home and start crafting your vacation memory book.
For scrapbook junkies a vacation is a means to an end. The minute they get home from the beach, the slopes or their favorite foreign city they get busy organizing their memorabilia, printing up photographs and shopping for embellishments. My aunt does it all the time. She and her family barely get through the door and she’s already sketching potential layouts.
If you are looking to make the most of your recent spring break trip, then consider these ideas:
Packing: While it doesn’t have the same pizzazz as meeting Mickey Mouse at Disneyland, packing is an essential part of taking a vacation. What’s more, it is so easy to scrap. Consider using a brown paper bag or some plain brown cardstock and cutting out the shape of a suitcase. You can then make a handle from ribbon, a scrap piece of leather or black cardstock. Next, use photo corners to attach pictures of your kids sitting on their suitcases or snapshots of the contents of your bags. You can further embellish the layout with fun travel quotes, such as “Beach or bust.” If you have extra space, consider adding a journaling block detailing any noteworthy packing-related anecdotes.
Lodging: Don’t forget to scrap your home away from home. Whether you stay in a condo, beach rental or five-star hotel you can create eye-catching layouts that document your vacation living arrangements. Be sure to take photos of the place and collect memorabilia, such as a hotel key card. Add the images and memorabilia to a layout featuring a map as the background paper. If you are artistic, you can sketch a picture of the property and add it to the layout along with other vacation-related stickers and die cuts of palm trees and suitcases.
