Mother’s Day

I just came across a special video for mother’s day from the Chabad’s website. It’s right on its front page. In fact, this video came just on time. All the major holidays are over, the summer vacation is just around the corner and I have more time to connect to inspiring messages such as these.

I’ve learned from this video the importance of words and not just for Mother’s day. A simple “I love you” can go so far. In the context of the chabad video, you don’t necessarily have to be religious or observant to connect to chabad as their messages for Jewish women are universal and are intended for women from all walks of life. This one was no different. What better way to remember Mother’s day by remembering our love and our mother’s love. Unconditional is the highest spiritual sense of the word.

As you watch this video, you will understand how the different layers, which play into the theme of “unconditional love. How we choose to interpret them is the answer you will ultimately bring to your heart and in your parenting.

After watching the video, I felt more intuned with motherhood as well as the good and the stressful. I thought about the how the birth of my son changed me into a more loving person. Our Jewish histories have taught us to put our trials and tribulations into perspective as we find the good or ‘hesed’ in everything we do. Parenting is one of those challenges.

I am a mother to a very energetic redhead, and the theme of unconditional love is what I need to remember to keep my batteries of love going. It is very easy to forget them especially after a long stressful day or week or when my thoughts get the better of me.

So with that, I leave you with a http://www.sxc.hu/photo/986592Happy Mother’s Day!
