Move Over Poker, There’s A New Card Game In Town

Today I came across a genealogy game that looks like it could be both fun and educational at the same time. Six Generations is a game that consists of a deck of seventy-two cards. The game may be played with or without a game board and six-sided dice, and it is designed for use by players age six to adult in groups of two or more.

The cards for this game are beautifully illustrated. The illustrations on the cards depict people from America and many European nations, who were born in different time periods. Each character has his or her own unique “story”. You can play multiple games with the Six Generations card deck. For example, a game called “The Heirs” is a two-person game that is similar to chess. The deck of cards can even be used for traditional card games, but it may take a little getting used to because the cards do not look at all like the standard hearts, spades, clubs, and diamonds that we are used to seeing.

Another fascinating thing about the Six Generations deck of cards is that it is modeled after the structure of a family tree. Two siblings, Emily and Jacob, have a mother and a father. Each parent has a set of parents, which makes for four grandparents. Those grandparents each had parents, and on it goes down the line for six generations.

Children and adults are sure to enjoy the various ways that they can play the Six Generations card game. It seems like the perfect way to spend a rainy day, or a fun activity to set up for a family reunion. If you enjoy genealogy and you are looking for a way to get your family interested, you may want to try playing the Six Generations card game.
