Moving Part II

Here we are in the midst of packing, loading the truck, and cleaning. Today is our last day to get everything done before we begin the long trek back to the Midwest. We’ve made a lot of progress yesterday. Most of the large items are out of the house and over a dozen large totes filled, labelled, and loaded. I spent a good portion of the evening cleaning and getting the things left in the house organized into piles to go in the truck. This small act of organization really gave me piece of mind as it became apparent that there really is very little left in the house.

Morning sickness
has been a real challenge. I can’t just barrel through and get things done as quickly as I normally could. I have to take frequent breaks to sit down and nibble on something when the waves of nausea begin to overwhelm. Thank goodness for my sister! She has been a lifesaver! She is unbelievably helpful with not only loading and cleaning, but also keeping our 21 month old occupied while I pack up breakables etc.

I just finished packing up a lot of toiletries in the bathroom. I’d like to get everything cleared at before noon so that I can start cleaning, mostly dusting and mopping. I remember as a child absolutely hating to dust and mop; I’d rather wash dishes by hand for the ten people in my family (we didn’t have a dishwasher). Now as an adult living in one of the dustiest parts of the country, dusting and mopping has become a sign of change, a sign of one chapter coming to an end, and a sign of new beginnings.

I am looking forward to the empty cleanness to which we will inevitably go to sleep.

But for now I’m taking a break, sipping a fabulously homemade organic latte. Warm milk does wonders for the nausea!
