Music Resources Available at www.lds.org

One great feature of www.lds.org is the music library that they have available to you. To access this you would go into the “Gospel Library” section and then click on “Church Music.” In the music section you can view the sheet music for all of the hymns and songs from the Children’s Songbook. You can also listen to the songs being played as well as hear the songs being sung. You can also view the music, which has been published in the church magazines. Songs from seminary CD’s and videos are also available to listen to.

The “Learning Music” section has a variety of resources available to you. It contains tips on how to accompany others when playing the piano. It has a section that can teach you how to conduct music. It has tips on how to change the music to fit the occasion. It has tips on how to teach music to children. It can also teach you what the different music symbols mean.

The music resources are wonderful if you have just been called to serve as an organist or an accompanist for Primary. They can also help you if have been called to serve as a chorister or a ward choir director. If you just want to learn more about how to incorporate hymns and Primary songs into your family home evenings, this site can help you with that as well.

I am impressed with the system they used in order to teach you the music. Once you have opened up a specific song you can run your mouse across the individual notes and it will play the song for you measure by measure and bar by bar. It is impressive. You can also print out specific songs that you need for programs or for the choir. I suggest that you check out this wonderful resource.
