National Honey Month

September is National Honey Month. What a sweet time of year! I have to admit I found honey to be an acquired taste. I began taking honey to relive seasonal allergies. It worked like a charm and I have not had to take allergy medicine in years. If you plan on using honey for that purpose you will need to purchase local honey. I find myself telling everyone I know about honey’s health benefits and how it has relived my allergies to the point I am sure some find tiresome. However, honey is quickly gaining popularity as a natural sweetener. Not only does it add sweetness but a shot in the arm of health! New products come out all the time with honey added. Some of the latest products are Honeydrop Beverages,The Body Shop Honey Bronze Collection ,FAGE Greek Yogurt with Honey, Burt’s Bees Milk and Honey Lotion, Maty’s All Natural Cough Syrup. I use a homeopathic cough syrup for my family with honey and it is amazing.

Here are some health benefits of honey:

Natural energy booster: Natural sugars prevent fatigue and provide immediate energy boost

Immune System Builder: Antioxidants help improve digestive system and fights disease

Anti-Cancer: Honey contains carcinogen-preventing and anti-tumor properties.

Cuts and burns: Antibacterial properties prevent infection; reduces swelling and scarring

Hangovers: Natural sugars speed up the oxidation of alcohol in the liver

Sore Throats: Antimicrobial properties sooth the throat and kill bacteria

We cannot have honey without bees. One company is trying to do its part in saving bees that pollinate 80% of the agricultural crops we depend on with Honeydrop Beverage’s “Buy a Bottle, Save a Bee Campaign.” Without honeybees, Americans would not have 90% of the apples, oranges, cherries, grapefruit and tangerines. Can you believe that?
So how is Honeydrop Beverages saving bees? A percentage of the profits from this healthy line of beverages will be donated to local beekeepers to help battle Colony Collapse Disorder. So, do yourself a favor and drink up a beverage with no refined sweeteners and help out your local beekeeper.
