New Celebrity Moms

The stork has visited Hollywood again. Actress Drew Barrymore has made a remarkable recovery from a troubled child actress with a drug and drinking problem to a beautiful, successful adult actress who recently married and gave birth to her first child.

Barrymore married her third husband (first husband Jeremy Thomas lasted less than two months and second husband Tom Green lasted a little over a year) Will Kopelman in June 2012. Although Barrymore was obviously with child, the couple didn’t announce her pregnancy. They simply went on with their wedding and lives until she gave birth to a daughter named Olive Barrymore Kopelman late last month.

Another new mom is singing sensation Adele. Her second album, 21, brought her six Grammy awards last year. But, the artist who equaled the most number of Grammys won by a female in one night (she shares that honor with Beyonce) may have to put off her third album for motherhood.

Much of her 21 album was filled with breakup songs. It is rumored that Slinky Winfield (aka Slinky Sunbeam) left Adele for a Burberry model. In early 2012, rumors were that Adele and charity entrepreneur Simon Konecki were dating. By June of this year, the singer announced that she was pregnant with the couple’s first child.

This week, rumors abound that Adele had given birth to a baby boy (name still unknown). Her Twitter and Facebook make no mention of the baby, but PEOPLE said it had confirmation that she has had the baby. Adele was featured on the cover of the magazine two weeks ago.

But, some are showing a very ugly side on Twitter. One Twitter troll posted, “Aw Adele gave birth to a baby. Is it fat and handicapped lol? Just murder it already lol.” What would cause someone to post something so horrible? Others weren’t much better. “Adele was pregnant? I thought she was just fat,” wrote another Twit (sorry, but he or she deserves that title). Someone else tweeted, “It must have been tough being pregnant for the last four years.” Really? Geesh, people. Even Joan Rivers (okay, I know it’s her job to be harsh) chimed in with, “Congratulations to Adele on the birth of her 68 pound 8 ounces bouncing baby boy.”

Hopefully the new mother is too busy with her baby to read such rubbish and Rivers sends a very nice baby gift as a penance.

About Libby Pelham

I have always loved to write and Families.com gives me the opportunity to share my passion for writing with others. I work full-time as a web developer at UTHSC and most of my other time is spent with my son (born 2004). I love everything pop culture, but also enjoy writing about green living (it has opened my eyes to many things!) and health (got to worry about that as you get older!).
