New Photo Storage Devices

We’ve covered how to take great shots, special event photography, …etc. Once we’ve taken all those great photos, how do we store them? Here are some new products made especially for storing your digital photos: (source-June 2006 Shutterbug Magazine).
Apacer makes a battery-powered DVD reader/writer that supports multiple memory cards, and has a small color screen for playback and monitoring. It also burns and reads CDs as well. Cost-$299.00.

CMS Products has a portable back-up system called the ABSmini with 40, 60, or 80GB capacity, allowing you to store photos from your laptop or desktop on an external device. Also included is data backup/recovery software. This is a battery-powered drive too. ($179-$329).

The Picture Porter Elite is a card reader as well as an MP3 player, a portable storage device and picture viewer, and comes with has a 3.6” screen to display photos from your memory cards. It is made by Digital Foci, and has 80GB of storage for a price of around $600.00.

Digital Foci is also the maker of the Image Moments 8″ digital picture frame. This cool product can display photos right from your digital camera or memory card, and you can also play MP3 files, videos, and movies on it. Cost is $249.00.

The smaller screened Picture Porter also supports multiple memory cards (20GB/$359), and Media Buddy(80GB/$299) is the non-color version. If you just want to back up your data, Data Pocket may be your answer. Capacity ranges from 30-80GB, and from $129 to $209 for this portable hard drive.

Epson introduced the upgraded version of their multimedia storage viewer, the P-4000, with storage of 80GB ($699). It has a large 3.8″ display, can store over 75,000 images, 25,000 songs, or 90-300 hours of video. For more information

Media Street unveiled the eMotion DF-PMPS personal media player and storage device, with a 20GB drive and 10-in-1 card reader. It is also an MP3 player. Price: $379.
