New Territory For Familiar Hollywood Names

It appears former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss is finally cleaning up her act… literally.

Fleiss, notorious for airing her dirty laundry in public, before and after she was convicted of running a high-priced call girl service several years ago, is getting into a new line of work. These days the reformed (she did spend time in jail) Fleiss is looking to clean others’ dirty laundry.

According to news reports, Fleiss is opening “Dirty Laundry” a 24-hour, coin-operated laundry complete with 13 washers and 14 dryers at a shopping center west of Las Vegas.

If you think Fleiss’ career move is rather, well, unique; wait until you hear what prompted the move. The former call girl ringleader says she decided to open the laundromat after the death of one of her pets, a beloved macaw named Dalton.

“I had to force myself to do something,” she told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “Nothing in my 41 years – nothing – ever affected me like this.”

We had a parakeet in our home while I was growing up, but I still don’t see the connection between losing a bird and opening a laundromat… any guesses?

In a slightly less unconventional move, James Earl Jones—the voice of Darth Vader and CNN promos—will now be the voice of the Declaration of Independence.

The 76-year-old actor, whose rich baritone gave life to the heavy breathing “Star Wars” villain will reportedly help open an exhibit featuring the Magna Carta at the National Constitution Center tomorrow. Jones will recite the Declaration of Independence at the “Magna Carta: Foundation of Freedom” exhibit on the eve of the Fourth of July.

If you live in the area or plan to be there for the Independence Day holiday, the exhibit will run from Wednesday through July 25th. The Magna Carta is on loan from Great Britain’s Lincoln Cathedral.

In case you were sleeping in your 7th grade American history class, the Magna Carta is the 1215 document that helped inspire the Declaration of Independence. In addition to the historic document, which helped shape our country’s history, the center is also displaying a signed Emancipation Proclamation and a printing of the U.S. Constitution.
