No Trantrums

My toddler is such a little helper. We’ve had a new baby in the house for the last month and Jessie is such a mommy. She is the best big sister. She is so gentle with Baby E. She is loving and genuinely concerned.

Jessie loves her dolls and stuffed animals. She is always playing with her babies. Since Baby E has been in the house, she mimics how I am with Baby E with her babies. It’s really cute. I guess she couldn’t really remember how it was with the last infant to do the same things. Even though I wish she’d stay away from the swing and the infant carrier, I know she’s just trying to give her babies the Baby E experience.

When we had to take Baby E for her first family visit, Grandma was here with us, so I was able to leave Jessie in the car with her. She kept pointing at the car seat base and telling Grandma and then me that she wanted Baby. Aw!

Baby E has had some health concerns. We’ve gone to so many doctors in the last week. Jessie could have been a typical two-year-old and had a meltdown at every turn. Who could blame her? She’s two. That’s what two-year-olds do. But she didn’t. She was patient and helpful. She pushed Baby E’s stroller everywhere. She carried on long conversations with nurses and doctors. She played where there were places to play. She read books. She made friends. She colored. She never once threw a tantrum. She was, however, a little concerned both times we left Children’s Hospital without Baby E, but she understood that we’d be going back for her.

Jessie never ceases to amaze me. She is the most amazing little girl. I am so proud of her.
