Not Enough “E”s

One pet peeve of mine is that when I buy a set of Alphabet stickers, there simply aren’t enough of the letter E. I am frequently searching through my stash of alphabets hoping to just find one letter E in any font. I mix and match my alphabets a lot so, is is not really a problem for me to use a letter from a different set of Alphas in my layout. But, in the same way I have a problem with not enough “E”s, I have a problem with too many of the letters Z, X, and Q. Who uses those?

Well there are some creative ways that you can think outside the box when using your alphabets. Try these ideas to make the most of those Alphabet letters that we all spend so much money on:

Cut the letters to make different ones. Here are a few examples: An N can become a U and vice versa. A lower case Q can even become and R if you cut it, or a B. Numbers like 3 can be turned around to make an E. I’ve done this many times! Cut off a lower case J to make an I. A number 1 can be and I also. If you’re desperate for G, a 6 can be substituted. P can become D, and so on and so on.

Use extra letters in your journaling to mix things up.

Try not using Alphas at all. It is so easy now to download free fonts from the internet. Try printing letters on your computer so you don’t have that problem

Give your kids the leftovers. Kids love stickers, and they don’t care if they have a picture on them, or a letter. They’ll be happy either way!

One great idea I heard on a message board was to create a word find around your title using the extra letters. Make sure to leave the title a different color so that it stands out. How fun is that?

When scrapbooking frugally, you always have to think outside the box!
