Just when you think (hope) he is gone, O.J. Simpson turns up in the news again. This time, his longtime girlfriend Christie Prody is in the hospital. I know what you are thinking – a significant other of O.J.’s has been harmed? But, wait, let him explain!
Christie, who looks strikingly like O.J.’s ex-wife Nicole Simpson, is in intensive care at the Baptist Hospital in Miami-Dade County. She is suffering from a “significant head injury.” Now you are probably asking – how did it happen? Well, according to O.J. Simpson, Christie was drunk at the gas station. She slipped and fell causing her injuries. Sixty-year-old O.J. said, “I know everyone wants to jump out and assume this had something to do with me, but it didn’t.”
Well, at least he knows that when anything peculiar happens, he is under suspicion. The National Enquirer is reporting that police were not convinced Simpson had nothing to do with the injuries, but his lawyer is saying that is not true and those at the National Enquirer should be ashamed of themselves.
The Miami Herald is reporting that officers spoke with Christie’s mother, Cathy Bellmore, to find out more information. She told the officers that Christie and O.J. recently returned from a Super Bowl party in San Antonio. According to the Herald, the police report states that O.J. and Christie had to take separate flights back because she was intoxicated and had a dog on the flight.
TMZ has said that they talked with the police and were told her injuries are “consistent” with the reported gas station fall, they don’t consider this a criminal case, and O.J. is not a suspect.
Before you go and accuse the National Enquirer of trying to stir up trouble for O.J., consider this: Christie and O.J. have lived together for seven years, but in those seven years, sources say that there have been five calls placed from their residence for domestic allegations. Then there is the whole “My ex-wife was murdered” thing. And, I am not even mentioned his current legal woes. O.J. has certainly had his troubles with the law over the past 15 years.
So, is O.J. Simpson a bad guy, or just the unluckiest guy in America?
