One in a Million

Did you know that there are about 1 million primary children in the church worldwide? Amazing. I heard about a new project that the Friend is doing called, “One in a Million”. It is a place to showcase primary children across the world, and share the stories of their lives and testimonies. What a cool project!

If you go here, you will find a map of the world, with stars on it. When you click on a star, it will bring up a story of a child. I watched one of a boy named Martins, who lives in Nigeria and is seven years old. He shares a testimony about the prophets, choosing the right, and getting baptized. You can really feel the spirit when he shares his sweet words in his Nigerian accent.

This is something that would be great to share with your children as well. Sometimes, when children are young, they don’t even realize they are part of a bigger world. I know my 4 year old still has a hard time grasping the concept of visiting another country. So, this would be a great family home evening idea to share with her some stories of kids that are also in primary, but live across the world. Being able to show your child where this child lives on the map is also a special feature.

It is amazing to think of the impact these children might someday have on the church. They will be our future leaders. Future bishops, relief society presidents, and maybe even a future prophet! Children are truly special to our Heavenly Father, and I love how the church is taking time to recognize how special they are.

In Matthew, Chapter 18, versus 1-5 it says,

“At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,

And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.”

Make time for a special child in your life, and you will undoubtedly feel closer to the Savior in doing so.
