If you are looking for some great photography equipment and awesome prices, here are some store that you can shop online, or by mail. I have bought many items from Porters, and some things from B & W. Of course, there is always Ebay, where I did do pretty well in selling some items. Okay, back to the subject.
Porter’s camera store, in Cedar Falls, IA, has lots of cool photo stuff that you can buy, and at very reasonable prices. Visit them online and order their free catalog (which is mailed to you). Then you can take your time and look at all the wonderful shiny things in the catalog before you place your order.
Porter’s has been in business since 1914, and you will see why when you see the prices. They have photography items from darkroom equipment and supplies, to filters, to camera bodies and lenses, to accessories such as flash, pc cords, and photo postcards. They have everything you need and most of what you want.
Each month, they have a contest that you can enter, with a chance to win some great camera equipment. And there is also an online newsletter, to keep you up to speed on new products. And there is a message board on the website, where you can share your photos as well as your ideas, and talk with other photographers.
On the other end of the spectrum is the professional’s choice, B&H Photo and Video. They also have great prices, and an amazing selection of stuff. They do have consumer photo and video equipment, so don’t be scared by the “professional” label. There is also experienced (used) equipment and underwater equipment.
They have DVD players and recorders, digital and digital SLR cameras and accessories, digital and regular camcorders, color and black and white film, bags, lenses, you name it. For more information, you can visit their site or see the ads in most photo magazines.
