Organic and Soy Milk Deals at Amazon

When we were kids, we went through milk like crazy. I remember my uncle having to go down in the morning to the dairy and again in the evening again because we’d already downed the two gallons from the morning. Of course, we had many, many children at home drinking it, and the milk was fresh from the local farms. It tasted much different then than the ultra-pasteurized and stored in plastic stuff that’s available in today’s grocery stores.

We moved to Japan a few years ago and the only thing available that was considered “safe” by the local base was reconstituted milk. Have you ever drunk that? Yucch. It tastes like sour chalk mixed with water. That probably started weaning us off milk. Well, not “off”, but definitely less. With the exception of my youngest, my children aren’t milk drinkers. Before I hear alarmed cries about their teeth and bones, none of them has ever had a cavity, not even one. And no one has ever broken a bone, even though two of them are very physical by nature. Calcium comes from many different sources, and most of the alternatives to milk are better absorbed by the body, anyway.

I still enjoy cream in my coffee and I’m, frankly, addicted to ice cream, but unless there are double stuff Oreos attached to it, drinking a tall, cold glass of milk simply doesn’t hold the appeal it did decades ago. As a type II diabetic, my doctor’s very happy about that. If you don’t drink cow’s milk for whatever reason, you might try a soy substitute. You can get Silk at most grocery stores. Right now, you can get it at a discount through Amazon and have it delivered right to you. Just purchase $39 worth of Horizon Organic Milk or Silk Soy Milk and you can take $20 off. At retail, it’s overpriced, but with the discount, it’s reasonable. They’re small packages so you don’t end up wasting any. If you don’t have Amazon Prime, I’d suggest adding a filler item to make the $25 for free shipping.
