Organize Your Clothes Each Season

Closets are a common area to get cluttered, especially when we store things in it that don’t really belong. And clothes can be a real source of your problem.

If you live in a state like mine, Wisconsin, you get to experience all kinds of weather. For the most part you can count on needing sweaters or light jackets during the fall and spring months, heavier jackets and long-sleeved shirts in the winter, along with tank tops and shorts in the summer.

So when you live in a state that provides different opportunities in dress, you might find your closet becoming overstuffed. As each new season approaches, it is a good idea to go through your closet for two reasons.

One, you can get rid of clothing you don’t wear anymore. Or if you are going through your children’s clothes, you can take out the things that don’t fit. This is a good opportunity to hand the clothing down to a younger sibling or you can donate it.

But the second reason to go through your closet is so you can see what you are in need of. You might find that a couple more sweaters are in order or it’s time to splurge on a new dress.

Since fall is around the corner, this would be a good time to start thinking about your closet. Of course, as it often happens in Wisconsin, one day it can be in the 40’s and the next in the 90’s, so you have to sometimes keep sweaters and tank tops for a little bit longer than you might prefer.

When you do finally decide it’s safe to pack away last season’s clothing, put them in sealed plastic containers. This way you have more room in your closet and can better access your garments.
