Other Things You Can Do with Costumes

What else can you do with old Halloween and Harvest costumes? It’s great to mix them and match them to come up with other costume ideas, but eventually, you run out of uses for them. This might be a good time to trade with friends and family members. Get together and swap costumes, masks, face paints and make up that are still good, and other accessories to see what you can come up with.

Your kids will have a blast digging through the different costumes and accessories, trying things on, and coming up with all kinds of whimsical and inventive ideas. By the time everyone leaves, each child should have a costume.

Another great idea, even if you swap costumes, is to gather up all the leftover items and donate them to a local thrift store or free clothing room. Many children cannot afford costumes or even the necessary items to put one together. By donating your old stuff, you will almost certainly make another child’s day.

Imagine what it would be like if you didn’t have a costume or any cool stuff to dress up in for trick-or-treating. Then, imagine how fun it would be to find a bunch of stuff that someone else didn’t need any more that you could have to create your own costume.

Make sure all the items are clean and in good shape before you donate them, so other kids can get some use from this stuff. If you have any old plastic pumpkin buckets or trick or treat bags that you don’t use any more it would be cool to donate some of these too.

You won’t get to see which kids get your stuff, but you’ll know inside that you did a really nice thing and that somewhere a little boy or little girl is smiling because you shared.
