My toddler loves to read. There are certain books that he always goes for each and every day. I thought I would share the list with you so you can enjoy these great children’s books as well.
The book my son probably looks at the most is “Tractor (Touch and Feel),” published by D.K. Publishing. He loves to feel the different textures, and the pictures are colorful and vibrant. He affectionately calls every tractor “mow mow.”
Another favorite is “First 100 Words (Bright Baby)” by Roger Priddy. This is an oversize board book with bright colors and tons of photos, each one captioned with its appropriate name. We spend a lot of time looking through this book and learning words. First we’ll go through the book and I will say the word for whatever pictures he points to. Then we’ll go through the book again, only this time I will ask where an object is and he has to find it on the page. He has learned a lot of words from this book.
The classic “Good Night Moon,” by Margaret Wise Brown and Clement Hurd is another one that we read almost every day. My son’s favorite part is looking for the stars and the kittens. I think it’s really cute that the little mouse is on every page, just about.
One book that we both really like is “I Love You Stinky Face,” by Lisa McCourt. What an adorable account of a mother’s unconditional love for her child. For my son, it is a silly story with silly words that always gets a giggle or two out of him.
“I Love You Through and Through,” by Bernadette Rossetti Shustak follows the same theme of unconditional love as “Stinky Face,” but in a more endearing fashion. My son likes to point out the facial features of the little boy in the book, who runs through a whole gamut of emotions.
