Paper Plate Easter Basket Greeting Cards

Here’s a cute idea to help little ones make an extra special Easter Basket greeting card for someone they love.

Items Needed:

  • 2 paper plates (small or large, your choice)
  • Hole punch
  • Ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Paper (*colored paper or wrapping paper)
  • *Crayons (if not using colored paper)
  • Glue
  • Embellishments (sequins, glitter, etc.)
  • Easter grass (*optional, can use curled ribbon)
  • Easter Candy (*optional)

1. Cut one paper plate in half.

2. Cut a half circle from the top of the other plate, leaving at least a 1″ edge. This will be the basket handle.

3. Run a light bead of glue around the bottom edge of the second plate and attach the half plate. This will be the body of the basket.

4. Punch evenly spaced holes along the bottom, going through both plates.

5. Thread ribbon through holes, tying bows at both ends.

6. Arrange Easter grass or curling ribbon so it’s peeking out of the “basket.” Glue to the inside of the basket.

7. Cut out egg shapes from the paper. If using plain paper, decorate to make colorful eggs. Glue to the inside, making sure eggs peek out. If you are using large paper plates, you can also add some plastic eggs for a more dimensional look. Fill with candy for an extra surprise.

8. Have each child (or help him or her) write Happy Easter, and perhaps the recipient’s name on the front of the basket.

9. Add sequins, glitter, or other embellishments to make the basket festive. Be sure to decorate the handle. You might also want to tie a large bow at the top of the handle.

10. Place a few Easter candies inside the basket if desired.
