What happens when you try to cram too many photos on a single scrapbook layout?
You either end up with a mess or a masterpiece. At least that’s been my experience.
When I first got into scrapbooking I have a terrible time trying to select just a few photos to feature on a page. Back then, I wanted to showcase all of my favorite shots despite the limited space I had to work with. Sometimes I was able to configure the images so the layout looked decent, while other times the end result was a chaotic mess.
Trying to squeeze dozens of photos on a single page is akin to designing your own puzzle. The bad news is that I stink at putting together puzzles. However, the good news is that there are other ways you can display your best shots without compromising the overall look of your page design.
If you don’t want to create a photo collage or reduce the size of your photos in order to place more on a single page, you could make a mini album and adhere it to your layout. Mini albums are a good way to include extra photos on your layout. What’s more, they are not only functional, they are also quite affordable. You can make your own by using a Cricut machine. Simply cut out several different shapes and bind them together with some ribbon. Once the album is complete, carefully attach it to your layout with very strong adhesive.
Another option for excess pictures is to preserve them in a pocket page. Sure, they won’t be showcased in the same manner as your other prints, but they will still be part of the page. All you have to do is tuck the extra photos in a pocket or place them in an envelope that’s attached to the layout. To add some pop to the page, make your own envelope from patterned paper.
