Photo Slide Show – He Sat Down to Watch!

A couple weeks ago I finished creating the photo DVD slideshow of my husband’s photos from birth to graduation and I must admit it is awesome. I had spent the day before scanning 120 photographs of my husband. He wanted to pick out the music for the video so I had to wait a day on him to get it to me. I picked four Mercy Me songs which were very appropriate for my husband. The DVD was actually a late Christmas gift for his mother.

Of course I was dying to show my husband and son the video as soon as it was finished. They both typically gave me about 2 minutes of their time before I got the usual nod and a “that’s nice” as they walked out of the room. How on earth was I going to get them to sit down and watch 17 minutes of video that didn’t including a car crash, superhero or murder. After lunch and much begging I convinced the two of them to come watch the video. My son plopped in his usual spot on the sofa and my husband didn’t even sit down, he was posed for a quick exit from the room at the two minute mark.

The first photo was of my husband as a newborn baby at the hospital being held up to the window mouth wide open in a wail. This brought a couple comments from my son about what he was actually saying with his mouth wide open. A few photos later I knew I had them hooked when my husband sat down to watch the remainder of the video. It was amazing to hear the comments from all three of us as we watched the video together. The connection from the past to present was priceless. On the video there is a picture of my husband as a young child on his first bike in his family’s living room, on the wall behind him is a large portrait of him as a toddler. That same portrait hangs on our living room wall today some 40 years later.

I was amazed my husband and son stayed in the room to watch the whole 17 minute video. My husband has still not shipped a copy of the DVD to his mother. Maybe he is saving it for Mother’s Day.
