Plan A Family Reunion This Summer

If it has been quite some time since your family last had a family reunion, now may be a good time to think about why. Here are a few common reasons that families put off having family reunions along with some suggestions to help you get around those reasons and plan a great gathering for your family this summer.

With the way the economy is, money could be one reason that your family has not had a reunion lately. The good news is that you don’t need to keep holding out until the economy shapes up. By keeping your reunion casual you can keep it affordable. Some ideas for casual, fun family reunions that won’t break the bank include a barbecue at a relative’s house or a picnic at a park. Either way, the venue costs little to nothing, and the food costs can be shared by everyone, either by having people sign up to bring various items from a predetermined menu or by making the event a pot luck. Add a little sun, a pool or lake, and some simple games like soccer or wiffle ball, and you’ve got yourself a memorable event – just make sure that you’re not having so much fun that no one remembers to take pictures.

Perhaps your family has not had a reunion lately because there has not been a major “event” to get everyone together – no milestone birthdays or anniversaries, graduations, births, or anything like that. That’s okay. You do not need a special reason to get the family together. Many family reunions are just that, a gathering of family for no particular reason other than to spend time together. Summer is a great time for family reunions, and it is not too late to plan a memorable event to get the whole gang together.

Are you going to have a family reunion this summer?
