Pop Culture Updates: KITT Comes Off the Block and Britney Gets Ready for the Hot Seat

Bad news for all you “Knight Rider” fans hoping to ride into 2008 behind the wheel of a talking car. As I mentioned in a previous blog an original KITT (the chatty car that helped David Hasselhoff escape bad guys on the ’80s TV series “Knight Rider”) was put up for sale on eBay. Unfortunately, the black 1984 Pontiac Trans Am has now been yanked from the popular Internet auction site by the previous owner’s attorney because he says he’s had more inquiries than he can handle.

The legendary car is being sold to satisfy the debts of slain real estate developer and car aficionado Andrew Kissel, whose killing last year is still unsolved. Kissel apparently bought his KITT from an auction house for $69,000 in 2005, but never picked it up. It’s still in storage in California.

According to news reports, Kissel’s attorney is vacationing in Hawaii and could not keep up with the dozens of bids that were coming in on eBay so he decided to stop the bidding and re-list KITT when he returns from his tropical getaway sometime in the next few weeks.

When the attorney ended the auction the highest bid on the car was $40,100. Keep that in mind should you want to dig deep for the hot wheels.

Speaking of hot, Britney Spears will start the New Year in the hot seat, at least according to her ex-husband’s attorney.

After a year of delays, Kevin Federline’s lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan says he is ready to wrap up his client’s ongoing custody battle.

Kaplan told reporters Spears will finally be deposed sometime this month.

You’ll recall the pop wreck missed her initial deposition last month claiming that she was sick and anxiety-ridden and thus couldn’t sit through the scheduled questioning. However, later that same night she was seen out shopping and having dinner at a Los Angeles restaurant.

“It’s not fourth grade where you get a doctor’s note and it’s all okay,” Kaplan told reporters.

Federline’s attorney also noted he planned to pursue a contempt of court charge should the 26-year-old party princess try to weasel out of the deposition again.
