Preparing for a Gift Album

Small albums can make meaningful gifts for family and friends. My daughter Audrey is going to a birthday party on Saturday for one of her closest friends, Ashley, who is turning six years old. Audrey and I were talking earlier this week about what she would like to give to Ashley for her birthday. I suggested that we make a gift album for her with pictures of the girls from over the past several years. Audrey’s face lit up at the suggestion and we had a plan in the making!

The first step in creating a gift album is deciding what size I want the album to be. Once the size is decided then you just need to find an album. Here is a picture of the albums that I have chosen to use.

This is a Bazzill Basis Zippered Album. It is chipboard covered with sturdy Bazzill paper and zips around three of the edges to close. The white insert pages come with album. Notice the spine of the album has three holes punched in it and the holes match up with the holes in the white insert pages. Once the pages are finished, then the holes will be used to bind the album. The zippered album will be fun to use because the cover can be embellished just like any scrapbook page. It is also magnetic.

Once the type of album has been decided, then it is time to choose the paper and embellishments that will be used in the album. I chose to use Making Memories Kids Paper Pack titled “Kate.” This paper fits the girls’ personalities and matched the album color perfectly.

This album needs to be completed in two days, so I need to keep the embellishments simple and fast to implement. I decided to use Heidi Swapp’s Ghost Flower shapes and a few different types of ribbon. I am also going to use Making Memories foam stamps for the title on the cover and I might use them on the inside of the album too.

Using the same supplies throughout the entire album will make putting it together go quickly and create a unified feeling. I’m look forward to seeing the results!
