Preserve Beach Memories

left

Did you spend the Fourth of July enjoying the sun, sand and surf at an area beach?

If so, then you likely have a ton of phenomenal photos to add to your summer scrapbook. Whether you snapped the shots on Independence Day or earlier in the season, beach pictures make fabulous additions to family memory albums. While a single photo can speak a thousand words, it doesn’t hurt to spice up your beach-themed layouts with some unique embellishments.

Consider the following ideas to give your beach memories a boost:

Paintings: If you have a passion for painting, use watercolors to add waves and a sunset to your background paper. Otherwise, use heavier grade paper and simply adhere your beach-themed painting to the layout when it dries.

Clip art: From sunglasses to beach umbrellas, the variety of beach-themed clip art available online is practically endless. Print out your favorite image and add some glitter, gems or sequins to make it pop.

Stamps: Swimsuit and beach towel stamps are cheap and easily accessible; plus, you can add some flocking powder to them to give texture to your layout.

Seashells: Put your seashell collection to good use by gluing smaller shells around the page to create an attractive border.

Frames: If you have a beach picture you really want to stand-out on your layout, paint a chipboard frame with texture paste, and then sprinkle it with sand and crushed shells.

Postcards: If you are a reluctant artist or don’t feel comfortable adding personal drawings or paintings to your page design, simply purchase postcards from your vacation destination. When you get home, arrange the cards in an eclectic pattern to showcase your favorite vacation spots.

Fonts: Rather than rely on traditional computer fonts to decorate your beach-themed layout, write a message in the sand while on vacation, and then take a photo of it. When you get back, blow up the image using photo editing software. You can then feature the message on scrapbook paper for a unique background.
