The Sharing Time theme for March is “Try, Try, Try.” The theme focuses on the many different choices that we have to make each day. The theme points out that it is important to try to do what Jesus would do. It uses a maze to describe the choices we have to make. It also points out that we need to continue to try to be like Jesus.
You can reinforce the theme this month by talking about daily choices that your children have to choose the right. You may want to talk about making decisions beforehand. One example is choosing to say no to drugs and alcohol, since they already know they won’t do this, it will be easier to say no. You can also stress the importance of repentance and trying again if you make the wrong choice.
You may want to have your children share a good choice that they make each day. This will help them become more aware of how many choices the do make each day. If your children make a poor choice take the opportunity to remind them of repentance and that it allows each of us to try again.
The scripture for the month 2 Nephi 31:12. The scripture stresses the importance of doing the things that Jesus would do. The children are encouraged to learn the scripture this month. You can encourage your children to practice the scripture each day. You may want to memorize it as a family.
The song for this month is “I’m Trying to Be Like Jesus” p 78 in “The Children’s Songbook.” It would help your children if you could practice this song with them at home during the month. Family home evenings are a great time to practice the song. I also like to practice the song at bedtime.
