Product Review: George Foreman Grill

Have you tried the “Lean, Mean, Fat Reducing, Grilling Machine”? The indoor grill concept is not new, but many styles and sizes are. You can choose from several different models and price ranges.

I received a George Foreman Grill as a Christmas gift. I thought it was pretty cool, but in all honesty, I wasn’t sure how much we would actually use it. We have rarely shied away from outdoor grilling, even in the winter, if we really wanted something cooked on the grill. I thought about putting it in the camper, just in case we encountered a rainy day while camping.

However, my daughter recently wanted to cook dinner for her boyfriend, and steak was on the menu. It was quite cold outside and besides, she didn’t want to stand outside and cook while her boyfriend was here… I remembered the Foreman Grill and we decided to try it out. It worked great. The steaks were perfect, and the grill is designed in a way that the fat drains off the meat and is collected in a small receptacle that is place beneath the edge of the grill.

It’s also great for making other meats and breakfast sausage, as it removes much of the fat. Grilled sandwiches have become a favorite in our household too. The kids are having a great time making a variety of sandwich creations (with adult supervision of course).

The George Foreman grill has a non-stick surface so it’s easy to clean. Do remember that it needs to be unplugged when not in use (the model we have is turned on and off by plugging in and unplugging). Make sure nothing is placed close to the grill until has cooled completely.

Another tip is to allow the grill to heat up for a moment or two before you begin cooking, for best results. Prices start around $30.00, so if you have been interested in trying this item, I would recommend it. And, it really does make a great gift.
