Product Review-Martha Stewart Large Circle Cutter

I have to admit that I am a very simple scrapbooker. I do not have a lot of “tools”. Rarely do I use them, so I don’t see the need to buy tools when I could spend my money on paper! But, I was watching Oprah the other day, and saw a tool that I thought I would actually use. It was the Martha Stewart Large Circle Cutter. I grabbed my 40% off one item coupon for Michaels and decided to head out and see how much it was. Honestly, it looked really cool and my free-hand circles never turn out right.

At Michaels it was $24.99. So, I paid $14.99 roughly after my coupon. In my opinion, this was money well spent. When I first opened the package, I will admit that I thought there were no instructions. But, the paper backing opened up into a nice little pamphlet that gave instructions on how to use it. So, after messing with it for several minutes, I found the instructions and it was very simple to use after that.

Pros:

*It comes with three blades that you can actually store on the cutter itself.
*It is easy to adjust the width of the circles.
*It has a place to “dock” the blade when not in use to avoid cutting something that you don’t want to cut.
*It is relatively small.
*It cuts perfect circles.
*It is easy to matte circles with other circles because you can easily adjust the diameter and know exactly how big your matte will be.

Cons:

*The smallest circle you can cut is 4 inches. I would like to cut some just a little smaller.
*You have to use a cutting mat or board underneath. I did not own one, so I just used a cutting board from my kitchen.
*You have to apply a lot of pressure while cutting. If you stop mid-cut, then you might get a tiny snag. But, once you get the hang of it, this problem is easily resolved.

For the discounted price with my coupon, I think this product is a good deal! Thank Martha Stewart!! Here is the layout I created with my new circle cutter:
