Recently I began thinking about a term that I heard a lot in high school. That term was PDA. At school PDA referred to public display of affection. Teachers and coaches sometimes used this term to inform students that they were getting too cozy with their girlfriend or boyfriend.
Most teen couples like to touch. They are embarrassed or ashamed to hold hands and kiss in public places. As we mature and grow older this often changes.
Some couples are more affectionate than others. They feel that they display their love for one another by holding hands and touching. Other married couples feel that they can get cozy in the privacy of their homes without having to do so in public. They prefer to keep their affections at a more private level.
However, I still see it. Couples draped across one another in restaurants, driving down the road, in parks, and shopping centers.
I dare say that we have all probably been in a situation when we are in a public location and two adults soon catch our eye. These adults are caught in the mist of a very passion kiss or with wandering hands that the public should not be allowed to see. Seeing these situations can cause some people to feel uncomfortable.
Holding hands or the occasional pop kiss is perfectly acceptable in most situations.
For minors in public about anything can be considered too much.
Yet how much is too much for the public’s eyes?
What do you consider to be offensive when you are out with your family?
Do you and your spouse hold hands while walking through the shopping mall or grocery store or do you keep more of a distance?
Should public locations be allowed to ask couples to leave due to an over display of public affection?
