Quote Me

Journaling is a feature of scrapbooking that some crafters shy away from due to lack of inspiration. In my opinion, you shouldn’t let a little writer’s block prevent you from sharing your thoughts on a particular photo, memento or experience. What’s more, there are no rules in scrapbooking that prohibit you from using words made famous by other people.

Inspirational words, whether they are in the form of poems, song lyrics, or well-known quotes, can easily be incorporated into a scrapbook layout. One of the simplest ways to add them to your journaling block is to purchase products that come with pre-printed sayings. For example, you can buy phrase stickers that can be used as page titles or placed near a photo to personalize a theme design.

Another option is to use die cuts with vellum quotes. You can buy them in a variety pack featuring popular sayings for holiday, travel and wedding-themed scrapbook layouts. One of my favorite ways to incorporate pre-printed quotes is by using Making Memories’ rub-on words and phrases. They are easy to use and add a punch of color to an ordinary page design.

If you are scrapping on a budget, then turn to your computer for a cost-effective way to add quotes to your layouts. The Internet is teeming with websites that offer thousands of free quotes, poems, and song lyrics. My favorites include: Scrapbooking Quotes, Quote Mountain and Scrapbook Quotes and Phrases. Once you find the right words to fit your page design, print them out using free fonts on your home computer.

For old school scrappers like my mom, who refuse to surf the net for inspirational sayings, there are a slew of good old fashion books that you can use as a resource for famous quotes. In fact, if you are looking for a useful gift to give a scrapper, consider buying Embellished Emotions for Scrapbookers: Designing Pages with Poems, Quotes and Sayings or What Can I Say?: The Scrapbook Way… Journaling Made Easy! Both books feature a plethora of journaling ideas, as well as hundreds of interesting quotes that work well with a variety of themed layouts.
