Ramsey + Holloway Twitty = True Love?

And you thought the recent reuniting of Amy Fisher and Joey Buttafucco was a match made in tabloid heaven… well, hold on to your stomachs…

FOX News is reporting that John Ramsey (the father of JonBenet Ramsey) and Beth Holloway Twitty (the mother of missing teen Natalee Holloway) are dating. According to news sources, the pair has been romantically involved since January. However, Ramsey (as recently as Monday) has repeatedly denied that he is in a relationship with Twitty; rather he says that the two have a “special friendship based on tragedy.”

Regardless of Ramsey’s statement, FOX News insists that the couple is indeed a “couple” and point to reports that the two met at a fundraiser last year and have since been seen holding hands and kissing at art museums and art shows in the Alabama town where Twitty resides. Sources say the couple has also been openly affectionate at various restaurants in the area as well.

In regards to Ramsey’s statement about bonding over a tragedy, both have certainly had to deal with their share of difficult moments. You’ll recall that Ramsey lost his wife, Patsy to ovarian cancer last year. Prior to that he was infamously named as a suspect in the death of his 6-year-old daughter JonBenet when her body was found in the basement of the family’s Boulder, Colorado home back in 1996. Meanwhile, Twitty, who was officially divorced from her second husband George “Jug” Twitty six months ago, is still trying to find clues to the whereabouts of her 18-year-old daughter Natalee Holloway. The teen disappeared in Aruba while on a school trip back in May of 2005. Holloway has never been found, though many speculate that she was murdered by teenaged suspects who were last seen with her the night she disappeared. All the suspects in the Holloway case were arrested and later released.

Both Twitty and Ramsey share the tragedy of having children who are victims of unsolved crimes so it certainly stands to reason that they would be able to relate to each other on a level that most of us couldn’t. However, I can also see how the media would sink their collective fangs into this pairing and suck as much out of it as possible.

What are your thoughts on this pairing?
