Reader Books: I Can Read! Veggie Tales

Book Series: I Can Read! Veggie Tales

Age Recommendation: 4 to 7

Use: Reader Books (Level 1 Beginner)

Not too long ago I introduced you to ZonderKidz new series I Can Read! Made by God. The I Can Read! Made by God series is excellent to teach reading with ties in to devotions, creationism, and science. ZonderKidz I Can Read! series is known for publishing delightful books based on Caldecott and Newbery Honors winners. Joining the ranks of the I Can Read! series is Veggie Tales.

Veggie Tales has been a household favorite since my first daughter was in preschool about a decade ago. Our household can sing the songs, tell the tales, and name the Veggies by heart. I appreciate the solid lessons of faith, the humor and adorable method of storytelling.

In the Series:

The Fairest Town in the West: Dodge Ball City was peaceful and quiet until the Ratt Scallion gang comes to town. It’s Sheriff Bob and Deputy Larry’s job to keep restore peace and not allow the town to be influenced negatively by new gang.

Bob and Larry’s Creation Vacation: Bob and Larry visit God’s Creation in 7 days! You’re your own adventures based on this book to extend the lesson to creationism.

Bob and Larry in the Case of the Missing Patience: The Pod Squad challenge Detective Bob and Detective Larry’s patience during detective training. Follow along on this fun misadventure and see what happens next.

Junior Battles to be the Best: Junior is not confident of his Tuba playing skills and turns to God for help. How does God answer and help Junior?

Each book is just $3.99 which makes for a happy homeschool budget. Each book has a different scripture verse perfect for memorization. I plan to introduce one book per week. Each week my emerging reader will memorize the verse, play word games associated with the words in the book and focus on the Godly characteristic or theme from each book. An exciting time for readers is upon us!
