Religious Scrapbooks

Religious scrapbooks are becoming a popular trend. Also known as faith books or praise books, the scrapbooks contain religious milestones or other examples of one’s faith life.

Some use the books to record personal journeys with God while others use them to show others how faith has shaped their lives, and how it could influence theirs as well.

Regardless of your reason for creating a faith book, the overall goal should be to chronicle what religion means in your life and the lives of your family members. This can be done in a variety of ways, including journaling or including favorite inspirational quotes.

Journaling is a huge part of faith books, especially if you plan to keep the book for a long period of time and pass it on to your children. Your words can be a powerful influence in another person’s life, so when creating a layout for a faith book, keep in mind that a little bit of journaling can go a long way.

Don’t overthink your journaling topics. They should flow freely and enhance relevant photos that are also displayed on the page. If you are still stumped in regards to what you should share, then consider these helpful questions to get the creative juices flowing:

*How long have you been practicing your faith?

*Where do you worship?

*With whom do you worship?

*Who influences your faith life the most?

*Do you have a spiritual advisor? How has he or she helped cultivate your faith life?

*What crosses do you bear? How do you carry your cross?

*What do you do to serve God?

*What ministries do you volunteer for?

*Have you ever been on a spiritual journey or mission?

*How do you encourage your children to keep the faith?

*What is your favorite scripture passage?

*What are your favorite Bible stories?

*How has your faith in God been tested?

You could also make a list of the blessings in your life and include it on a page with a photo of your place of worship, a church group, your family, your pastor, or special religious occasions, such as your children receiving the sacraments of baptism, confirmation or First Holy Communion.
