San Antonio for Children

In addition to being a cultural mecca and a romantic getaway, San Antonio is also fun! If you are traveling with kids, there is something for guests of all ages.

[h]The Children’s Museum of San Antonio[/h]
Let’s face it– Texas is quite extreme and unpredictable. Try as you might, it is next to impossible to ensure good weather during your trip to san Antonio. It’s a good idea to have a few indoor options, in case of rain or unbearable heat. If you have children between the ages of 2 and 12, the Children’s Museum is a great back-up plan. The museum offers many fun and educational hands-on activities. Kids can experiment with bubble-making, creating soap bubbles that are larger than the kids themselves! They can also step into the shoes of several different workers, including pilot, construction worker, dentist, and dental hygienist. They can also shop in a lifelike replica of an HEB grocery store. The Museum is located at 305 E. Houston St. San Antonio, Texas. 78205

[h]Ripley’s Believe It or Not! And the Plaza Wax Museum[/h]
The Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum shares space with the Plaza Wax Museum. Both appeal to our love of the freakish and unusual. Ripley’s features oddities collected around the world. Kids and parents alike delight in the obscure facts, nature’s “mistakes”, unusual exhibits, and strange talents on display. The museum is a mix of three-dimensional exhibits, photos, and videos. Exhibits include a shrunken head, replica and video of the world’s tallest man, the Lord’s Prayer written on a grain of rice, and a two-headed goat. My kids get a kick out a video demonstrating some pretty unusual talents, such as a man who can smoke with his eyes and another who can swallow mice and then release them unharmed!

The Plaza Wax Museum features wax representations of some of Hollywood’s best and brightest. It also features figures from Texas history and the Bible. I’m a kid, though. My favorite part is the “scary” section, where monsters, ghosts, and goblins are on display in all there gory glory.

[h]Fiesta Texas[/h]
Now that Astroworld has shut down, kids in the greater Houston area are aching for an amusement park– and San Antonio has a spectacular one! As part of the Six Flags family, Fiesta Texas offers a mix of thrilling roller coasters, chilling water rides, and toddler rides. My husband and I love Superman Krypton Coaster, Scream!, Boomerang, and Poltergeist. Of course, our girls are two small for most of those, so they prefer the milder Splashwater Springs, Mini Teacup, and the Gully Washer. There is also plenty of games, activities, and food available. Park openings are seasonal, so check in advance. Fiesta Texas is located at 17000 IH-10 West. San Antonio, Texas. 78257. Phone number is 210-697-5050.
