Saving Money on Dryer Sheets

If you like to use fabric softener dryer sheets then no doubt you know how expensive they are. And it doesn’t take very long for you to go through a box of them. I have a hard time justifying the expense of the dryer sheets, maybe because I grew up without them.

But, there are ways to save quite a bit on dryer sheets while still getting the benefit of the softness and freshness. Read on to find out just how you can do this.

One of the easiest ways to save on dryer sheets is to cut them up into smaller sheets. You can cut them in half or even into quarters and use one piece per load. Your clothes will still be static free, soft and nice smelling. If you cut them into quarters, a 120-count box could last you the whole year!

Another great way to save on fabric softener dryer sheets is to make your own.

First gather a bunch of clean and dry wash cloths. They don’t have to be fancy ones, and you can even use cut up pieces of old towels, baby blankets or cloth diapers. Next, Get a spray bottle. You can find one at a dollar store, or just reuse one that previously help cleaner (just make sure to rinse it very well, first).

Mix some liquid fabric softener with water at a 50-50 ratio (one part liquid softener to one part water) and pour it into your spray bottle. When it comes time to dry your laundry, simply spray a washcloth about six or seven times and toss it into the dryer along with your load. You can really stretch out a bottle of liquid fabric softener this way, and it costs just fractions of the cost of those fancy dryer sheets.
