Scrapbook with Your Kids

My daughter Audrey was given an assignment at her first Daisy Girl Scout meeting to create a scrapbook page about herself to share with the other girls. We had fun creating the following layout together.

To start our project, Audrey picked out all of the paper that she wanted to use. I let her choose patterned paper form my scraps and one piece of 12 X 12 cardstock. It was not exactly the color combination that I would have picked out, but I wanted to let her do as much of her own creating on this project as so could. We cut the patterned paper and attached it to the bright pink paper with Hermafix.

We then went through a stack of pictures that I was going to organize for Audrey’s scrapbook to choose the pictures for the page. Audrey picked out her favorite pictures. We spend some time arranging the pictures on the page and once Audrey like the placement of the pictures; I cropped some of them so that they would all fit onto the page.

Next we pulled out a label maker and Audrey told be her favorite things while I punched the words on the label maker and attached them to the page. It was fun to ask her questions about her favorites and hear her answers. I learned some new things!

We then got out a sheet of letter stickers and she spelled her name at the top of the page with them. She also added some heart sticker onto the page.

This was such a fun page for us to work on together. I want to spend more time scrapbooking with Audrey. I’m thinking about giving her a smaller album to work on. Maybe she can start with an album of her friends or an album of a recent family trip. I will be fun for us to create together and most importantly spend time together.

What are some ways that you have found to include your children in scrapbooking or other hobbies that you enjoy?
