Scrapping the Funny Things Your Kids Say

Kids really do say the darndest things don’t they? At least most of the kids I know do. As Moms, we try so hard to write those things down so we don’t forget, but why not make a scrapbook page about them? My sister’s kids are hilarious. I love when she calls me with a silly story, or funny thing they did. She keeps track of them on her blog. So, one day, I decided to make a scrapbook page of all the funny things my niece Hazel said. I titled it, “Hazel-isms”

In the center of the layout, I put my most recent adorable picture of her. I matted it in a cute paper that I loved. Then, I put all the little quotes and embellishments around the main photo. You really don’t need a lot though to make this page pop. The simple technique that I used was just writing the quotes in different ways, and in different directions. For example, one quote that she said was written in a circular pattern around an embellishment like this:

One quote was a song that she made up on the fly. I chose some cute music notes and embellishments that went with a music theme to put next to the song that I wrote down that she made up. It looked like this:

I also did some journaling around the photo, and tried to use some embellishments that went along with the silly things that she said. Like, her quote to her Mom one day, “You make my heart so happy” Of course, I used a heart for that quote and it turned out super cute.

I think if you framed this and gave it to any Mom or Grandmother, they would absolutely love it! I gave mine to my sister, and it is something that she treasures to this day. It would also be a great way to immediately add a quote to the layout as they say those silly things. Over time, you would see your layout turn into something beautiful. Most important is to let it evolve, and get creative. Here’s a picture of my finished project:
