Set Sail on a Mediterranean Adventure

Don’t let the threat of hurricanes, tropical depressions and other foul weather dampen your desire to set sail on a fantasy cruise. After all, the Caribbean isn’t the only spot where cruise ships voyage. If you are looking to save some money on a fall cruise head to the Mediterranean. The following deals to Spain and Turkey are going quick so book now if you want to make the most of the weak dollar.

NORWEGIAN

Expedia is currently offering a great rate on a 7-night cruise that will take you roundtrip from Barcelona to Valletta, Malta; Naples, Italy; Civitavecchia, Italy (Rome); Livorno, Italy (Florence); and Villefranche-sur-Mer, France (Nice) all for just $787 (inside cabin) per person. You can choose from four departure dates in September and October, but reservations must be made by July 31, 2008.

If you have more time and a bit more money you can experience more that the region has to offer by taking advantage of Norwegian Cruise Line’s other tour that takes you to eight cities and five countries in 12 nights. The Norwegian Jade will take you from Barcelona to Istanbul stopping in Rome (Civitavecchia), Naples and Venice in Italy; Dubrovnik in Croatia; Piraeus, Greece and Izmir, Turkey along the way. Inside rooms on the voyage departing on September 7th are priced at just $1,187. That’s half off rack rates. But you must book by July 31, 2008 on Expedia to get in on the deal.

HOLLAND AMERICA

Holland America is offering a 10-night Roman Empire voyage that will help you save up to 50% off rack rates. Interior cabins on the September 4th trip are priced at just $999. You will set sail from Rome (Civitavecchia) and make stops in Dubrovnik, Croatia; Corfu, Katakolon (Olympia) and Santorini, Greece; and Kusadesi (Ephesus), Turkey. Valletta on Malta and Messina on Sicily are also stops the vessel will make before it returns to port in Rome.
