Shopping List and Tidbits for the Food Blog: April 7 through April 13

The food blog has been busy, busy, busy this week thanks to the excellent ideas and recipes contributed by our very own frugal blogger, Mary Ann Romans. Keep reading for fabulous ideas in the kitchen, new food trends, and of course, you can always print out your shopping list full of ingredients!

Tidbits

March was National Pasta Month. However, as you may well know, March was also the month of the blogger hiatus. So National Pasta Month got celebrated with a quiz last week and this week I have posted the Answers to the Noodle Quiz.

Are you familiar with Fusion Cooking? This hot new trend, popularized by food pioneer Wolfgang Puck, combines flavors and techniques of various cultures to create new and tantalizing dishes. You can read my blog to get my take on the whole thing!

I have introduced a new feature to the food blog: the weeknight menu. Once a week, I will post a complete week night menu that is quick to prepare, and delicious. This week’s menu features quiche, potatoes, and my own pineapple version of a popular drink in Latino kitchens.

Start a What’s for Dinner Club is what Mary Ann suggested that we do and so I am. I’m starting a what’s for dinner club right here on families.com using our forums and mysite. Check here for the forum thread to contribute an idea for dinner for everyone else to try out. If enough people post, I will create a blog once a month highlighting the most popular recipes! I hope to see you there!

Cook for the Cure is a blog devoted entirely to ways that you can use your culinary passion and raise money for a great cause: the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation.

Also this week, the sneaky mama is back with some tricks on how to get your kids to eat oatmeal from scratch!
