Showing Affection

Showing affection- some people are good at it. It comes as naturally as breathing to them. Others are not so good at it and need to learn how to do it. In marriage it is important. Those little signs of affection can really make a difference to how your spouse feels.

In a recent forum one of our members said how she misses not getting the little signs of affection. Her husband gives them to someone else but not to her. That’s a sad state of affairs, when he is buying flowers and showing admiration for someone else and not showing his wife she is loved and appreciated. It appears too he is not listening, when she tries to explain how important this is.

This last week and a half Mick has been sick. That means he is being careful not to go in for the usual kisses and cuddles and little shows of affection, so I don’t get sick too. But I miss them and realize how much they are a part of our normal daily life.

While he has been sick I’ve been trying to find others ways of showing love and affection, like cooking his favorite meals, especially since he hasn’t been feeling like eating. Last night it was salmon patties. You’ll find the recipe here and of course they’re gluten free.

I’ve also been keeping fluids up to him as doctor suggested. Every time I go past where he is, I ask does he want a drink or just give him a gentle pat in passing or sit and sound time with him when I really should be doing other things.

He had to go back to the doctors yesterday and I drove him, as I didn’t want him having to try and concentrate on driving even if it is only a short distance away. Another time as I went up the street I came back with two Nienish Tarts. I think they’re disgusting, but he loves them. He was touched that I had thought of it. Little signs of affection -they’re just another way of saying ’I love you.’ Not that I don’t tell him that each day too.
