Single Moms Going Back to School – Part Four

I truly hope you feel encouraged to move forward with college – I know from firsthand experience that being a single mom is hard. Although it is not impossible, being a single mom puts a strain on your time, finances, and patience. If you think about it, finishing your college degree so you can earn a better income is exactly why I want to recommend you do everything possible to better yourself

One of the biggest decisions you will have is where to attend school. Now, you might be interested in attending a traditional school, you know, the brick and mortar school where you go on campus. For many single moms, they find this a nice break and way to meet friends. However, I know that my time as a single mom was limited, which is why I chose online education.

You will also need to determine the career you want to work toward, which is why I suggest you find a local college and meet with a counselor in person. However, if you do not live in a city with a college, then check out any number of schools that offer online courses. For instance, Phoenix University is one of the top choices. Be sure you choose an accredited school and one that offers a full guarantee.

Once you locate a college, you need to determine if you want your Associate’s Degree or if you already have enough credits or even some credits, how many more you need for this degree or a Bachelor’s Degree. Of course, another huge decision is your goals. For instance, while you could take classes focused on an existing career, it might be a great time to consider classes that would allow you to move into a new or exciting career.

Remember, the options available today for online education is tremendous. You can take just about anything you want, enjoy the benefits of video conferencing with in-class students and the teachers, have a counselor who can provide guidance, use financial assistance, and more. I suppose what my message is – do not let being a single mom be your excuse. Yes, there will be unique challenges but because you can now earn your degree online, at home, in your own time, there really is no reason why you should pass up such a great opportunity.
