Soft Fall Colors for the Home

branch This fall season, the colors for home are soft, warm and fresh. Here is a guide to what is really in style this season for your home.

The main feelings for home design this season is to evoke a feeling of warmth and comfort. The colors are gentle on the eye, yet fresh and new. For inspiration, designers are taking their cues from nature. Falling leaves, pure snow, crisp winter, and harvest bounty all set the stage for the season’s palette.

One of the wonderful things about this year’s palette of colors is that they are all very easy to use, very approachable. The colors basically combine lighter versions of traditional fall colors with crisp cool colors of the approaching winter. For an accent color that goes with both the warm fall and the cool winter, a rich brown is used. This is a timeless color that can bring everything together.

Lowe’s home improvement store is reporting on specific paint colors in Valspar series. They suggest the following:

Dried Hydrangea from the seaside retreat collection

Homestead Resort Antique Lace

Tomato Bisque

Jekyll Grand Dining Sea Mist

Sumatra Blend

Bungalow Gold from the Eddie Bauer Home Collection

Sailcloth from the Seaside Retreat Collection

You can also use accent pieces to bring some of this fresh color into your home through rich red rugs, soft yellow bathroom towels, natural area rugs, and copper decor pieces.

Use of these colors will bring the outdoors in to your home but still create a cozy and casual feel. Frosted candles in similar colors will also warm up your space. I spotted some great frosted candles in shades similar to that Jekyll Grand Dining Sea Mist (I love the name, too) at Yankee Candle, so I plan on incorporating them into my family room. Don’t you just love fall?
